Pastor Mary Ann LinderGreetings! I’m Pastor Mary Ann!

Rev. Mary Ann Linder was born in Houston, Texas on November 7, 1934, only child of Floyd and Dorothy Brinson. “I was essentially raised in the First Baptist Church of Houston where my parents were very active. A great influence on my life was the large group of young people in that church, many of whom are still close friends. My parents were like surrogate parents to them, and they spent a lot of time in our home. I have enjoyed singing since I was small. I enjoyed my college years, graduating from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. I have been a lifelong learner.

Later on I earned a Masters Degree in Counseling from Kearney State College, now the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1985. I also earned a Masters Degree from Creighton University in Christian Spirituality with Certification in Spiritual Direction as well as a Masters of Divinity from Andover-Newton Theological School.

I met Lyle while working for McGraw-Hill Book Company, College Division. We worked together for several years before getting married June 18, 1976. We have a ‘His and Hers’ family. Lyle has a daughter, Leslie, who works in Family Violence Prevention near Bangor, Maine. I have two sons, Harry and Dan, in the Boston area. Harry and his wife, Anne, have two grandchildren, Katherine and Nat. Harry is a Radiation Physicists in the Boston hospital system, and Dan works with International Students at Pine Hill College in Newton. Needless to say we are thrilled the Red Sox won another World Series.

Lyle and I enjoy pastoring at New Berlin First United Methodist Church. We have joined a wonderful church family there, and we feel a great deal of unity and support as we reach out to one another, the community, and the world there.

In addition to pastoring, I love to read and write poetry, sing and do walking meditation. I also like to anoint with oil when doing prayers for healing in church and hospitals. Public and private prayer is a gift and a joy.”
